D Block Zinfandel Magnum

D Block is a special project wherein 18 different clones of zinfandel are planted in a random block format, replicating UC Davis’s heritage block of zinfandel. All 18 clones are harvested together, and the berries are gently removed from stems prior to being fermented in new French oak barrels. Gentle punch downs throughout fermentation allow for the extraction of color and tannins. Once pressed, the resulting wine was returned to the same barrels in which it was fermented to age for 18 months.
